For nearly a century there has existed a very quiet and powerful African American influence in every major metropolis in the United States.  The world of African American affluence and power has never been seriously explored.  And yet, people of color have been millionaires, billionaires, movers and shakers in the legal, social, and political world since the founding of this nation.  These high dramatic stakes of storytelling have never been told.  This is where the stories of Esquire are born.  This influence has stayed off the radar and yet, has been silent partner to the largest business concerns in the world.  While black in appearance, it prefers to be the invisible associate who gets things done and maintains the status quo.  White/Black partnerships behind closed doors have existed to steadily guide the greater good for the free (and not so free) market economy but which few truly every tastes the benefits.  By carefully weaving and orchestrating this thing we call "the law", these partnerships have silently managed and guided vast amounts of wealth and power.  Without the black vote, support, or silence this would never be possible.

Steele & Steele, Esq. is a law firm that exemplifies this world to a "tee".  Never boastful, certainly not on display--that's the chosen vocation of an actor, singer, athlete or politician...all cogs.  Instead, Esquire is all about the firm and the family behind it, that handles business.

Audiences are hungry for this world, it feeds the voyeur in all of us, black, white, male, female, it's Cosby thrust into the real world and everyone wants to peel away the layers of this, never seen before, world.  And when they taste it... they'll want it like a heroin addict wants his fix.

GENERATIONAL POWER

Within Steele & Steele, we'll watch three generations, each of whom experience the world and the family's power in different ways.  Like any story about Royals, the difference between older and newer worldviews will fuel much of the conflict.

This is the world of POWERFUL, MONIED INTERESTS.  The world of giant corporate CEO's, wealthy tycoons, heirs to family fortunes and organized crime bosses.

This is a world of SHOCKING SCANDALS: A peek into the kinds of crimes, vices and fetishes that rich people would prefer to keep hidden.  But lawyers get to see things normal people can't.

This is the a world of SECRET GOVERNMENT AGENCIES, operating underneath the official radar.  

This is the world of the American Dream.  A world where a poor black man with nothing built the most powerful law firm in Chicago.
